We pasture our chickens for several reasons. First the eggs are great because the chickens get to eat all the things that they were made to eat (grass hoppers, larvae, bugs and the grass itself). Yes we do offer some feed especially in the winter when there are no bugs and not much pasture. Our feed is grown, grinded and bagged by our neighbor so we know exactly what is in it. Second the chickens follow the cows, clean up the larvae and spread out the cow manure. Thirdly just because chickens were not made to be kept in cages and buildings.

Our chickens are put in the pasture at 3 weeks of age. Then they are moved to fresh grass every 12 hours. They are processed right her by us so they do not get washed in anything that makes them slimy(chicken should not be slimy).

They are your cows; we just take care of them and their product. This is called a heard share. You must sign a contract. Pay a one time fee of $20 for your part of the heard, and then pay a monthly fee of $30 to take care of the heard. This gets you 1 cup of butter a week. We are a grass fed herd. (This could change due to weather; we have had to resort to feed one winter in three years). We will let you know if we feed. Raw butter still has the enzymes and vitamins intact in their natural form and it is great for you. Do some research! Pick up only available at the Tuesday Cedar Bluff location.
